With its inspection and testing capabilities, ITS is uniquely situated to undertake all specialized and routine projects related to structural steel on bridges and buildings.

We have in-house ASNT ACCP NDT Level IIIs in Radiography, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle and Penetrant Testing Methods. All NDT field inspections are performed by individuals certified as ACCP and ASNT NDT level II as per SNT-TC-1A. We also have personnel certified by NYSDOT for Ultrasonic Testing on Bridges in New York State.

All visual inspection of weldments is performed by inspectors certified as CWI by the American Welding Society. We are also accredited by the AWS for the Certified Welder Program whereby the Welder Test is conducted by us and the certificate is issued by AWS. This highly qualified team of professional is led by our Technical Director who has over eight years of experience managing structural steel inspections on bridges and complex buildings in the New York Metropolitan area.

ITS also has experienced technical staff trained in sampling coupons from structural members utilizing Magnetic Drills, Portable Bandsaws, Carbide cutters and Oxy-acetylene torch, as necessary. The coupons are brought to our laboratory for analysis of Tensile Strength, Yield Strength, Chemical Analysis, Grade Verification, Weldability and impact resistance.

Our clients in the construction industry usually demand overnight results and the same are provided as a premium service to our clients with a 24 hour turnaround time. This is possible as we have a fully equipped in-house machine shop for machining/ sample preparation, Optical emission spectrographs for instantaneous Chemical analysis and a UTM capable of testing up to 400,000 Lbs utilized and monitored by experienced metallurgists.

All inspection and testing is performed to national and international standards and codes such as ASTM, AWS and New York State Steel Construction Manual.

Ground Penetrating Radar is utilized for the construction industry for mapping reinforcement layout, locating conduits in concrete floor slab, finding voids in walls, locating footings, utilities and buried underground tanks, and Bridge Deck Surveys.

Our metallurgical experts routinely perform residual life assessments on in-service building piping, rivets on old structures, and wire ropes.
